Research is the main innovation engine in medical practice including Pediatrics. Research touches lives each day and provides hope where there was none before. Research find answers to problems, filling gaps in knowledge and changing the way that healthcare professionals work. Research also supports healthcare system in the delivery of more efficient and equitable care to people. A defining characteristic of an academic organization like Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA) is a commitment to medical research.
Pediatricians have a responsibility to promote the health and wellbeing of children and research has an essential role as an agent of change in fulfilling this responsibility. There is a paucity of high quality data around child health and protection in Pakistan which is the main impediment in the way of designing evidence based interventions. This is especially true at community level.
Strengthening national research capacities is the need of the day and pediatricians should participate, advocate for, and conduct research. On behalf of Research Division-PPA, we invite you all to join hands to promote a robust research culture in the field of child health and protection. Together, we can bring the desired change and make a difference.
